How to Update the Licensed Domain for a WeltPixel Product

Problem

You need to change the domain associated with a WeltPixel product license — for example, because you are moving from a staging environment to production, rebranding, or migrating to a new domain. You may be unsure whether this requires contacting support.

Solution

Domain changes within the same account are fully self-service. You can update the licensed domain at any time directly from the account portal — no support request is needed.

1. Go to account.weltpixel.com and sign in to your account.
2. Navigate to My Products.
3. Find the product card for the license you want to update.
4. Click Update Licensed Domain.
5. Enter the root domain of the environment — for example yourdomain.com, not a deep host like dev-m2.shop.dev23.yourdomain.com. Then save.

A new license key is generated immediately, and it covers that root domain plus every subdomain under it.

Important: Each update generates a new license key, and the previous key stops working on the old domain.

Which domain do I enter? Use the root domain

The license check reduces whatever host your store runs on down to its root (registrable) domain and validates against that. So you always license the root, and it automatically covers every subdomain — staging.yourdomain.com, dev.yourdomain.com, and so on. Entering a full multi-level host instead of the root is the most common reason a freshly generated key still shows "invalid."

If you already hit "license domain X does not match current domain Y": the value to license is exactly Y — the error names the root the check computed. Re-run Update Licensed Domain and enter Y (not the full URL from your browser bar).

The one case where Y is not the right answer is a dev host whose structure pushes your own brand label out of the last two labels, such as gartenmoebel.de.test reducing to de.test. See License key for local / staging / development environment for how to restructure that hostname.

Bare IP addresses do not work. The field will accept a full IPv4 address and issue a key, but the license check reduces the address to its last two octets before comparing, so the key never validates on your install. Use a dev-domain pattern instead.

If you need two domains running at the same time

Updating the licensed domain moves your key rather than adding a second one, so it covers one environment at a time. You can switch it back and forth as often as you need, and switching does not change how the extension behaves on your store. For most setups that is the whole answer, because the development work and the live site rarely need to be licensed in the same moment.

If you do need a test environment licensed alongside your live site, get in touch through the WeltPixel Support Center with your order number and the exact domain of that environment. This is not something you need to buy a second licence for. Where it is warranted we can issue a temporary development licence for the domain you confirm, valid for 30 days, which leaves your existing key untouched.

If you need to transfer a license to a different account

Moving a license from one account to another (for example, from an agency account to a client account) cannot be done through the self-service portal. Contact WeltPixel support at support@weltpixel.com with your order number and the recipient account details to request a transfer.

Verification

After saving, the product card in My Products will display the updated domain and a newly generated license key. Confirm that:

• The domain shown on the product card matches the new domain you entered.
• You have copied the new license key and updated it in your Magento installation if required by the product.

The old license key will no longer be valid, so ensure the new key is in place before going live on the new domain.
