Paypal not showing in Checkout after upgrading to Magento 2.1.8 or later

This issue is not related to WeltPixel extensions but rather to a Magento 2 upgrade problem we've documented.

Everything usually works well when installing an extension on a clean Magento setup. However, upgrades can introduce issues. Since Magento releases regular updates for security, performance, and features, upgrading is necessary—but it can also be challenging as core functionalities change.

One of the common issues encountered is PayPal disappearing from the Magento 2 checkout page after upgrading.

Issue

After upgrading Magento from 2.1.6 to 2.1.8 or later, the PayPal payment method disappears from checkout. Even when upgrading to Magento 2.2.x, the issue persists and requires a workaround.

Solution 1: Enable PayPal Billing Agreement

Set PayPal Billing Agreement = Yes. Enabling this option will make PayPal show up again in your Magento 2 checkout.

Solution 2: Enable Braintree

You can also enable Braintree and process PayPal transactions via Braintree.

Note: Some users reported that PayPal payments processed through Braintree were not allowed in certain countries. This issue does not occur with the native PayPal integration included in Magento 2.
